We travelled with UNICEF Jamaica the Gen. Colin Powell Challenge Course with a group from RISE Life Management Services. The group went through the challenge course built by the BREDS/Treasure Beach Foundation with support from UNICEF, the Ric Ohrstrom Foundation, Jamaica Defense Force and Jamaica Public Service. The Gen. Colin Powell Challenge Course is an outdoor personal development course designed to challenge participants in a safe environment under the guidance of trained facilitators. Low elements are used to explore trust building, problem-solving and leadership, while the high elements focus on personal achievement and self-esteem. The course is intended for at-risk youth, to complement broader life skills and personal development interventions, as well as children and young people with leadership potential.
